The beer party achieved the “historically best result” in the 2020 Vienna elections. It is entitled to 12 district terms in Vienna. It seems that it is not clear who should occupy this.

VIENNA. The beer party entered the Vienna elections with the main candidate Dominik Wlazny, alias Marco Pogo, with slogans such as “Hurt Vienna again” or a beer fountain as a lighthouse project. By current tally, he managed to convince 2.05 percent of Vienna at the community level. The hurdle for the city council is not over. At the district level, where Marco Pogo competed in 22 districts, these do not exist and therefore the Beer Party currently has 12 district mandates in Vienna. Strongholds include Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus with 2.49 percent, Liesing with 2.50 percent and the party’s home district, Simmering, with 2.31 percent.

“Everyone is welcome at the beer festival”

The original six-person shortlist shows that the beer festival was not fully prepared for this outcome. “I am very happy with the result. Thanks to everyone who chose me. But I’m surprised myself, ”Pogo reveals when asked bz. He definitely wants to fulfill all the mandates, he says. How, you don’t seem to be sure. “In any case, I started to hold a political position. But now I have to review my list of candidates. I am currently in contact with the authorities a lot, ”Pogo said. There are already hundreds of inquiries from stakeholders and supporters of the beer festival. “But I still haven’t been able to look at them,” says Marco Pogo. In principle, everyone is welcome at the beer festival.

A district council receives around 440 euros a year. Club leaders – this status is available for more than one term in the district – costs around 1,400 euros. Also, the beer festival is now eligible for party funding. How much it could be is currently being discussed on Twitter:

Pogo as a district councilor in Simmering

The main candidate himself would like to take office in his home district of Simmering. “Where my heart beats,” he emphasizes. Given that a person can only have one term, they are definitely still missing at least six candidates. “I don’t even know which of the six candidates on the list would do it. But let’s see, ”sums up Pogo.

On election night, Marco Pogo was overwhelmed by his electoral success:
