In an appointment with the epidemic authority on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, Mayor Harald Preuner determined the additional direction of the city of Salzburg in the Corona matter. Due to the still high numbers of Covid-19 (130 people infected by Tuesday at noon), the pace is accelerating.
Preuner, city chief: “We have to reduce the number of events. I can say that from today’s perspective, apart from the Christkindlmarkt with its highly professional Covid concept, no additional sales positions will be approved in the area. In the old town, only the clearly delimited Christmas market with unidirectional regulation of visitors and corresponding controls is feasible ”. The basic office will send a letter to all those affected.
Indoor permits on short notice
Authorities say there have been no requests yet for the regular Christmas markets in front of Mirabell Palace and in the fortress, but the organizer has already canceled the Hellbrunn Advent Magic. Currently, indoor cultural events can only be approved or rejected on very short notice. There are also many Covid concepts that do not work. “Therefore, I appeal to all potential organizers to think carefully whether they really want to hold events in the current situation,” emphasizes Preuner.
