INNSBRUCK. Covid 19 infections in the age group 60 and over have increased in Innsbruck since last week. There are currently two focal points at the Innsbruck Social Services (ISD) premises: In the Saggen dormitory group, a total of more than 60 people (residents and employees) are currently affected. Some test results are still pending here. As of this morning, four residents of the dormitory of the Olympic Village are positive for Covid-19.

treatment

The detailed situation is that three elderly people from Saggen’s dormitory are receiving treatment at the Innsbruck clinic. So far there has not been a dramatic course of the disease. Most of those who tested positive have no symptoms or have mild flu-like symptoms. Across Tyrol, a total of 38 seniors and 40 employees in care centers are currently positive for Covid. There are currently four elderly people in hospital treatment in Tyrol.

Due to the general situation in Corona, Mayor Georg Willi appeals to the entire population: “We have to stick together now by following the hygiene rules. I would like to thank everyone who does this in an exemplary manner, including the many institutions that come up with good security concepts and implement them. But it is important that we all do our part. We need more attention now! “

observation

“We are closely monitoring the development of infections among the elderly. Of concern is the growing number of seniors testing positive for Covid 19. Our focus is clearly on further optimization of processes to ensure faster tests and results to prevent the uncontrolled spread of the virus. In addition, I am working with ISD to perform antigen testing for nursing homes. This could make it clear within 15 minutes whether the virus is present or transferable to prevent the virus from spreading uncontrollably. Here I am in close coordination with the managing director of Social Services in Innsbruck, Hubert Innerebner ”, this is how the Deputy Mayor responsible for the department, Johannes Anzengruber, describes the approach.

strategy

“Our strategy is clear: when the first suspicions arise, comprehensive tests are organized and performed among residents and nurses as standard. Residents of the home who tested positive are then individually isolated in their rooms. Only nurses and medical personnel with protective clothing can enter. For security reasons, all employees are already working with masks of the FFP2 classification “, emphasizes Innerebner and continues:”In the case of Saggen’s bedroom, the general visitation ban and the closure of the house cafe will remain in effect until further notice. “

Precautionary measures

Comprehensive general hygiene measures are currently applied to visitors to all ITS facilities. In general, access to the facility is only allowed to healthy and asymptomatic people.
