Salzburg fights travel warnings ahead of winter season

The state of Salzburg is tightening the reins. “We have to go through that now, we have to go down with the infection numbers. We have a mandate to act, I will not let that dissuade me, ”Governor Wilfried Haslauer said Monday. The state government wants to avoid a travel warning through Germany, the largest source market for tourism, before the winter season.

Therefore, new measures will take effect on Tuesday in Tennengau, where the number of infections has recently risen especially sharply. Events are completely prohibited, as are private parties in public spaces. In Kuchl, the curfew was brought forward at 5 pm and visiting the retirement home is prohibited.

These are currently the most stringent measures in Austria. In Tennengau, the number of actively infected people has nearly doubled from 93 to 176 in one week. Apparently the information provided by some sick people was also incorrect.
