Hopes of a move to the municipal council were not fulfilled for the former head of the FPÖ, Heinz-Christian Strache. This is the end of a political career. Investigations by the prosecution could have unpleasant consequences.
That was probably it for Heinz-Christian Strache. More than a year after his retirement from all political office and his subsequent return to the political stage, voters have spoken a word of power: the attempt to regain a foothold through the Vienna City Council has failed. At most as a district council (450 euros of monthly compensation, 1,300 for the head of the club) he could continue. His fans could have forgiven him for his embarrassing appearance in Ibiza, which caused the turquoise blue coalition to explode and abruptly ended his FPÖ career. But the expense issue, the revelation that the little man’s self-proclaimed representative lived princely for years at the party’s expense and possibly cheated on the accounts (presumption of innocence applies), was probably too much.
