Two districts will change color with the results of the district council elections with the highest possible probability, there will be at least three new district heads.

The redial is not repeated
Under Uschi Lichtenegger, the second district was surprisingly under green leadership for the past four years, after the last district elections were repeated. Now, according to current extrapolation, the Reds are once again impregnable. The main candidate and therefore the new district president is Alexander Nikolai. The 50-year-old is a long-time district councilor of SPÖ and also a district director of SPÖ Leopoldstadt. Even before the elections, he declared: “I want to be a district chief for the people and the number one contact person. His motto is:” From child caregiver to district 2 caregiver. “
Blue interlude in Simmering over
The race has also ended in the eleventh district: the SPÖ is impregnable against the FPÖ, as it always has, except for the last five years. In the 2015 district elections, the FPÖ narrowly beat the SPÖ for the first time, gaining 401 votes ahead. So there was a unique five-year interlude with District President Paul Stadler. With an extrapolation that is slightly under 30 percent, the district has achieved the best FPÖ result in all of Vienna.
The new head of the red light district will be named Thomas Steinhart. The 47-year-old has already served as a district vice president. He is the owner of a nursery and also the state director of the SPÖ farmers.
Still red, but with a new face
No color change, but there will still be a new boss in Margareten. Former district leader Susanne Schaefer-Wiery resigned from her party, the SPÖ, in February. The current legislative period will be ended, but Silvia Jankovic entered the race as the top candidate for the SPÖ. The 36-year-old previously worked in the administration of the University of Vienna.
Some closed races are still open
District politicians can’t back down everywhere – voting cards could postpone some tight races – in Josefstadt in particular, it looks like a neck-to-neck race between the ÖVP and the Greens. If the current district director, Veronika Mickel-Göttfert (ÖVP), can hold out, it may not be known until Tuesday.
Währing district leaders Silvia Nossek (Greens) and Alsergrund, Saya Ahmad (SPÖ) are sure: for them, it currently looks like their parties will win again.
