Believe it or not, a 47-year-old oncoming driver was on the Tauern Autobahn (A10) on Sunday night at a whopping 2.16 per thousand. The man drove through the Tauern Tunnel against the prescribed direction, police report.
The motorway police were informed about the 47-year-old man and then closed the Tauern tunnel and the Zederhaus (Lungau) compound. A police patrol finally found the car parked in a niche in front of the south portal against the direction of travel. The 47-year-old driver was in the driver’s seat, the ignition was activated.
Two bottles of vodka before a ghost ride
An alcohol test returned a value of 2.16 per thousand, the driver’s license was withdrawn from the man. The Pole said he drank two bottles of vodka at a rest stop due to relationship problems. He then continued his journey and entered the highway incorrectly.
It was shown to the driver, the collection of a security deposit was ordered. The car was withdrawn and the A10 reopened to traffic.
