The SPÖ grew in 16 districts. The FPÖ lost more than ten percentage points everywhere, and even more than 20 percentage points in nine districts.
The strength of the SPÖ in the election of the Vienna city council can also be seen in the results of each district. The Social Democrats registered an increase in votes at the polls in sixteen districts, and were the strongest party in all of them. However, if postal votes are included, it will probably no longer be the strongest vote in Vienna-Innere Stadt, but the ÖVP. The big loser FPÖ lost more than ten percentage points in all districts, 18 times he stayed below ten percent.
SPÖ achieved its best result in Brigittenau with 50.64 percent, representing an increase of 7.56 percentage points; it was also the only district with more than 50 percent of the votes in the preliminary result (no voting postcards and no voting cards foreign districts, these will only be counted as of Monday). In twelve other districts, the SPÖ was able to obtain more than 40 percent of the vote; It was more than 30 percent of the vote in the 23 districts. There were red losses in seven districts, the largest of which was in the first district with a minus 3.35 percentage points and a result of 30.15 percent.
The clear upward trend of the ÖVP can be seen in the fact that it was able to grow in all districts. There was no first place at the polls, but after counting the postal votes, the ÖVP may have the largest number of votes in the city center, based on extrapolations. In six districts, the ÖVP achieved more than 20 percent, Hietzing was the strongest vote with 29.97 percent (+ 9.72 percentage points). The ÖVP achieved the largest increase in votes in Liesing with 13.18 percentage points, there it reached 22.82 percent. The ÖVP had the worst performance at Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus with only 12.97 percent (plus 6.65 points).
