So far, 22 residents and two employees of the 130-seat home have tested positive for the corona virus. Visits are only possible in exceptional cases and with increased security precautions in separate areas, according to documents for a press conference. Until further notice, new admissions are only possible in urgent cases.

The city of Wels had taken the measures in coordination with the health authorities after the test results were known. First, an 89-year-old resident showing mild symptoms of illness was admitted to the Wels-Grieskirchen Clinic as a precaution. Once the positive test result was available, the residents and employees of two floors were tested.

Mostly without symptoms

After positive cases also occurred here, saliva samples were taken from everyone in the house. 13 of the 22 positive residents so far have had no symptoms of the disease, nine residents have only had mild symptoms to date, said Mayor Andreas Rabl (FP).

In the other three homes for the elderly and urban elderly, instructions on compliance with distance and hygiene measures when visiting neighbors’ rooms will be reinforced, the mayor announced. At the moment, there are no longer community activities. In addition, attention is paid to the separation between residential groups.
