The city of Wels had taken the measures in coordination with the health authorities after the test results were known. First, an 89-year-old resident showing mild symptoms of illness was admitted to the Wels-Grieskirchen Clinic as a precaution. Once the positive test result was available, the residents and employees of two floors were tested.
Mostly without symptoms
After positive cases also occurred here, saliva samples were taken from everyone in the house. 13 of the 22 positive residents so far have had no symptoms of the disease, nine residents have only had mild symptoms to date, said Mayor Andreas Rabl (FP).
In the other three homes for the elderly and urban elderly, instructions on compliance with distance and hygiene measures when visiting neighbors’ rooms will be reinforced, the mayor announced. At the moment, there are no longer community activities. In addition, attention is paid to the separation between residential groups.
Curfew controls: 98 ads so far
In Wels, the number of active cases rose to 90 on Friday, and there are currently 1,150 confirmed positives for Covid across the country. According to the crisis team, 163 new cases were added from Thursday to Friday.
Another increase in cases was registered in relation to a meat processing company in Ried. The group now has 142 cases, two more than the previous day. 134 employees and eight of their contact persons tested positive at noon on Friday.
In addition, the state of Upper Austria has announced an initial assessment of curfew controls: between September 18 and October 7, 98 violations were reported, at more than 10,000 local controls.
