Switzerland also puts Burgenland and Salzburg on the red list

After Vienna, Lower Austria and Upper Austria, the Swiss Federal Council (government) has included two more Austrian federal states in the list of corona risk areas. These are Salzburg and Burgenland, as the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health announced on Friday.

Accordingly, the regulation should come into force on Sunday at midnight and therefore come into force from Monday. The measure was taken because a threshold value for new infections was exceeded in both federal states.

Therefore, five Austrian federal states are on the red list. The federal states of Vorarlberg and Tirol, which are directly adjacent to Switzerland, remain excluded from the measures, even if they have a large number of infections.

Quarantine obligation

Quarantine is mandatory in Switzerland for travelers from risk areas. A negative test result does not remove the quarantine. This regulation applies to all people who have been in these federal states for more than 24 hours in the last ten days.

Pass through Switzerland is still allowed. There are more exceptions for business trips, medical trips, freight, etc. Entry is free for travelers from other parts of Austria. Meanwhile, the return trip to Austria is free.
