The american poet Lucky louise receives the Nobel Prize for Literature, as announced by the Swedish Academy. The award is endowed with ten million Swedish crowns (950,000 euros).
Loiuse Glück was born in New York in 1943 and lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In addition to her writing work, she teaches at Yale University.
In 1968 she made her debut with Firstborn and was soon recognized as one of the most prominent poets in contemporary American literature. He received several prestigious awards, including the Pulitzer Prize (1993) and the National Book Prize (2014). The Nobel Prize jury recognized Glück for “his unmistakable poetic voice, which with its strict beauty makes individual existence universal.”
Louise Glück has published twelve collections of poetry and several essays on poetry. All are characterized by the search for clarity. Childhood and family life, the close relationship with parents and siblings, is a theme that has remained central to her. Happiness seeks the universal and is inspired by the classical myths and motifs present in most of his works.
