Minneapolis – Derek Chauvin, who has to answer for the murder of George Floyd (✝︎46), is on the run for the moment!

The murderous policeman has posted a bail of 1 million dollars (the equivalent of 853,000 euros). His attorney Eric Nelson told CNN on Wednesday. So far it’s unclear where Chauvin got the money from.

The bail rule states that you are prohibited from any contact with George Floyd’s family. This also includes contact through social media. Also, Chauvin is not allowed to own weapons.

“I can confirm that he is no longer in our custody,” said a spokeswoman for the authorities. The Hennepin County jail list shows that Chauvin was released shortly after 11 a.m. local time on Wednesday.

The process begins in March 2021

It was Chauvin who knelt on Floyd’s neck for nearly eight minutes in Minneapolis on May 25, while Floyd kept pleading, “I can’t breathe” (German: I can’t breathe). The brutal police operation, which was captured on video on a cell phone, sparked violent protests and riots in the United States. Derek Chauvin has been suspended from the police. He was charged with second degree murder. This can be punished with up to 40 years in prison.

The deposit regulation also stipulates that Chauvin must attend all trial dates. The process is scheduled to begin in March 2021.

Chauvin’s three colleagues, kneeling on Floyd’s back and legs, face a court case for complicity.

Death after brutal police operation

It all started because George Floyd allegedly paid with a counterfeit $ 20 bill at Cup Foods at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and 38th Street. The store employees called the police. And the situation got worse.

Finally, four officers pushed George Floyd onto the street. Chauvin knelt on his neck. He ignored the shouts of protest from passersby, who repeatedly pointed out Floyd’s condition, as did the other three officers who had arrived. Only when George Floyd was already bleeding from the mouth did the police call for medical help.

In the ambulance, the doctors fought for George Floyd’s life. But at 8:33 pm it was on the radio: “The patient has suffered a complete cardiac arrest.”

At 9:25 p.m. on the night of May 25, George Floyd was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
