The two were victims of a blatant robbery at lunchtime Tuesday. The police are now looking for two men who pretended to be fake cops.
The strangers, who were driving a newer blue Skoda Fabia, had stopped a car around 12 noon at the intersection of Jägerstrasse and Marchtrenker Strasse. Two brothers, 39 and 34, sat on it. The two assumed that the Skoda was in a civil patrol because the passenger wore a cap with the words “Police” and waved at them when passing.
Then one of the alleged police officers went through the alleged traffic control. He asked for the brothers’ documents and their shoulder bags, put the items on the roof of the car, and searched them. While the brothers waited in the car, the man returned to the blue Skoda and his accomplice left with him.
After the two men waited about five minutes in the car, the 34-year-old got out and pulled the documents and bags from the roof of the car. Only then did they both notice the theft. The two brothers said they had several thousand euros because they wanted to buy cars.
The Marchtrenk police station requests information leading to the investigation of the perpetrators. The “controller” is said to be between 1.70 and 1.75 tall and is 40 years old. He was of normal slim build and wore a baseball cap with the words “Police” on it, a blue jacket, dark gray jeans, and light brown shoes.
