In the “Pass-Any-Election” organized by SOS Mitmensch, people living in Vienna without an Austrian passport can vote symbolically.

Vienna The SPÖ took first place with 38.44 percent of the so-called Viennese “Egal Wahl Pass” from SOS Mitmensch, where people living here without an Austrian passport could vote symbolically. Second place went to the Greens with 33.55 percent, followed by Alliance Links (including KPÖ) with 12.09 percent.

ÖVP, FPÖ, NEOS, Team HC, Bierpartei and SÖZ (Social Austria of the Future) all failed due to the five percent hurdle to enter the Vienna State Parliament. Using postal voting, mobile voting booths and cooperation sites, 1,546 people participated in this year’s Viennese “Egal Wahl Pass”. In addition, there were 1,047 votes of solidarity from people with Austrian citizenship.

“The official election in Vienna, in which a third of the voting age population is not allowed to participate, is an incomplete election,” said Gerlinde Affenzeller, CEO of SOS Mitmensch. The “Pass Egal Wahl” shows that there is considerable interest in political participation by people without an Austrian passport. Therefore, the door must be opened to democratic participation for those affected.
