The traffic light commission loses two experts. The Viennese virologist Elisabeth Puchhammer-Stöckl and the Tyrolean infectologist Günter Weiss leave the commission due to lack of time.

Two members of the traffic light commission have left the expert panel. According to the “Oberösterreichische Nachrichten” (online), they are the Viennese virologist Elisabeth Puchhammer-Stöckl and the Tyrolean infectious agent Günter Weiss. The Health Ministry confirmed the withdrawal to the newspaper on Monday.

No criticism of the traffic light construction: the experts no longer have time

Puchhammer-Stöckl and Weiss belonged to the group of five independent experts on the 19-member commission that has existed for about a month. Both justify their withdrawal by saying that they no longer have time to do so. Puchhammer-Stöckl is director of the MedUni Vienna Center for Virology, Weiss is director of the Internal Medicine II Clinic at the University of Innsbruck. There was no criticism of the construction of the traffic light.

The Health Ministry informed the “Oberösterreichische Nachrichten” that “they regret the withdrawal of the two and that they thank them for their volunteer work.” The solution of each commissioner having an alternate was expected to ease the burden. There are already potential successors and the decision will be announced in the coming days.
