On the last day of the extended transfer window, the transfer carousel at SK Rapid Wien picked up speed again. While Thomas Murg switches to PAOK Saloniki with immediate effect, Marcel Ritzmaier, an off-road midfielder, arrives in Hütteldorf!
In the spring of 2016, Thomas Murg moved to SK Rapid, where he has since played 163 competitive matches for our club in six seasons. The attacking midfielder scored 35 goals. Now, the 25-year-old announced an express wish to move abroad, which SK Rapid has fulfilled today. Thomas Murg will be moving to PAOK Saloniki two years before the end of the contract, and the parties involved have agreed not to disclose the transfer fee.
Sport CEO Zoran Barisic: “Thomas Murg informed us about the very good offer from abroad and expressed his desire to accept it, with due respect for SK Rapid. We obviously regret his decision because he has been an important player in our offense over the years. At the same time, however, we respect your decision and thus honor your personal request for you to take this step in your career. We wish him all the best for his new job and we thank him for his work for our association ”.
Thomas Murg: “It was a wonderful time at SK Rapid with many wonderful years, which gave me many unforgettable moments as part of the team. Now I have decided to take a step in a new direction that I am convinced will enrich my great experience as a footballer. I would like to thank all the Rapidlers, my teammates, the training and support team and the employees for the great support that I have received at Rapid over the years. Thank you!”

In the winter of 2020 he switched to his former coach Gerhard Struber at FC Barnsley, for whom he has played 22 competitive matches in all leagues.
Sport CEO Zoran Barisic: “We are very happy to have managed to win over Marcel Ritzmaier for us. He is a player who has enjoyed a very good education and can be used universally. We expect a lot from him and hope that he can help our game from the beginning. “
Marcel Ritzmaier: “I am very happy to have finally arrived in Vienna. It is a great honor for me to be able to wear the green and white jersey for next season. The anticipation for the upcoming tasks, as well as for the team, the fans and the entire club is enormous.
