Full support for the ÖGB call for an active labor market policy and economic stimulus package
Vienna (OTS / SPW) – “ÖGB Chairman Wolfgang Katzian can count on our full support when he calls for an active labor market policy and an economic stimulus package. In Vienna, Dr. Mayor Dr. Michael Ludwig and his team work tirelessly for every job. It is high time that the federal government now also takes up this issue and lends a hand to people in a difficult situation, ”said SPÖ Vienna Party Secretary of State Barbara Novak.
“In Vienna, specific countermeasures were taken where support was most urgently needed: the 50plus employment offensive, which recently increased to 2,000 places, is aimed primarily at unemployed older people, while the Vienna apprentices offensive primarily at young people in need urgently a job market perspective I have to. That is why the city of Vienna has doubled the number of apprenticeships and is also investing in inter-company training workshops! Viennese companies were also supported with various inexpensive packages. The gastronomic voucher alone supports around 66,000 jobs, ”explained Novak some of the many measures taken by Mayor Dr. Michael Ludwig follows.
“Now we expect equally consistent steps from the federal government. Successful measures like ‘Aktion 20,000’ were shut down by the previous turquoise blue coalition and now even more are missing. That is why the ÖGB’s demands for an active labor market policy and an economic stimulus package are so important, ”concluded Novak.
