With his excellent performance, Innerhofer defeated favorite Valentin Pfeil, who won silver, and Lemawork Ketema, who only finished fifth in the Volksgarten behind Thomas Roach and Mario Bauernfeind.

Solo directed by Julia Mayer

The women’s race started at a moderate pace. After about three miles, Julia Mayer perked up and sped up. As a solo artist, she moved away from the rest of the field relatively quickly and took home a clear victory in 1:16:03 hours. “I am very satisfied with this success and after we took about 19 minutes in the first five kilometers, the final time is absolutely good,” the 27-year-old said in a broadcast.
