Three cars involved in a horror accident

On Saturday afternoon there was a serious traffic accident in Mondsee (Vöcklabruck district) near the motorway exit. There were a total of seven injured, including three seriously injured, as announced by the Upper Austrian Red Cross at the request of the S24. Three vehicles were involved in the accident.
As police reported, a 28-year-old Afghan driver was driving with four other family members in the B154 vehicle from Zell am Moos to Mondsee. Behind was a 71-year-old man from the Vöcklabruck district who was driving his car and his 67-year-old wife was also in the car.
Man loses Control over vehicle
At the same time, a 33-year-old man from Salzburg drove his car from Mondsee to Zell am Moos. In the motorway underpass area in the Mondsee municipality, the Salzburg resident took the fast lane and lost control of his car for a previously unknown cause.

He struck the 28-year-old’s approaching vehicle with all his might. The car was thrown against the railing. The 71-year-old man driving behind was unable to stop his car in time, despite emergency braking, and also collided with the Afghan’s vehicle.
Two seriously injured people
Two of the Afghan nationals were released from the vehicle by the fire brigade and flown to the surrounding hospitals with fatal injuries in the emergency medic’s C6 and Martin 3 helicopters. Two other occupants of this car, as well as the 67-year-old man, were taken to the Vöcklabruck regional hospital with injuries of indefinite degree.

The Guggenberg, Mondsee and Tiefgraben volunteer fire brigades and the Red Cross with six vehicles each were in action. There were also two emergency helicopters. The scene of the accident was completely closed for about an hour and a half.
