Animal rescue operation on Friday in the Zillertal! Three calves fell around 300 meters, two animals did not survive the fall.
The Hainzenberg Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Zell am Ziller Mountain Rescue Service were alerted to an animal rescue in Zillertal at around 1.40 pm The night before, three calves had crashed about 300 meters down a steep gorge and impassable.
The operation was difficult, as the emergency services could only descend with a safety rope. Two calves did not survive the crash, one was alive and was anesthetized by the vet to rescue it from the air.
Goat chased calves to death
The three calves were transferred with a transport helicopter. The mission finally ended around 5pm
First information, a goat is said to have chased the calves around the local area before they crashed into the Gerlosbach gorge.
