Mouth and nose protection is now mandatory as soon as you enter the Wiener Linien building. So far 198 sanctions have been imposed.
In accordance with the requirements of the federal government, Wiener Linien is adapting the corona protection measures in the station buildings: from now on, mouth and nose protection is applied not only on vehicles and on subway platforms of Wiener Linien, but in all buildings of Wiener Linien. entering the entrance area.
“The fact is that the requirement for masks in public transport helps us prevent infection and the spread of SARS-CoV-2, even with heavy traffic. So it makes sense to extend the requirement for masks to the entire area of the room. “says Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Hutter, Environmental Physician at MedUni Vienna. Oral and nasal protection is also compulsory at the information and ticket counters as well as at the Erdberg customer service center.
Strict controls
Until now, not a single infection chain can be traced to public transport. Around 130 security service employees ensure 24 hours a day that all passengers comply with the rules and that they use mouth and nose protection correctly. In addition to the security service, more than 200 service employees and 150 control bodies are traveling in plain clothes on the Wiener Linien. Whoever refuses, even after having been treated and warned by the security service personnel, is finally excluded from continuing the trip and pays a fine of 50 euros. To date, more than 55,000 warnings have been issued and 198 penalties have been imposed.
Wiener Linien cleans and disinfects all vehicles and surfaces that passengers come in contact with on a daily basis. The first doors of the bus and high-floor trams are closed to create a minimum protective distance between drivers and passengers. Currently, all lines run at the closest intervals.
