Bulls in the Champions League against Bayern, Atlético and Moscow

Red Bull Salzburg plays the Champions League for the second time in a row! In Group A, the Bulls face defending champions Bayern Munich, Atlético de Madrid and Lokomotiv Moscow.

That was the result of the draw in Geneva on Thursday afternoon. Former Chelsea forward Didier Drogba and former French national team player Florent Malouda acted as “lucky ones.”

The premier category group stage begins on October 20 and 21. The Salzburg burgers were taken out of pot three.

In the previous season, Salzburg faced defending champions Liverpool at the time in their first premier. CL’s three opponents in the current season are uncharted territory for the Bulls.

Cops meet the best teams

“The big clubs are coming back to Salzburg, which is really great,” sporting director Christoph Freund said after the 3-1 win against Maccabi Tel Aviv. As in the previous year, when Salzburg were in the CL group stage for the first time, thanks to a fixed place over the national Bundesliga, the cream of the cream awaits coach Jesse Marsch’s team in the draw.

The European Football Union (UEFA) allows fans to return to international matches, starting with international matches next week. As announced on Thursday, a maximum of 30 percent of the stadium capacity can be used for national team matches and also for Champions League and Europa League group stage matches, but only if so it is approved by national authorities.

This means, for example, that 3,000 spectators are allowed in the Klagenfurt Wörthersee stadium for the test match between Austria and Greece on Wednesday. According to UEFA, around 9,000 people could pass through the turnstiles, but Corona’s requirements in Austria only allow a maximum of 3,000.

Fans admitted to appearances at CL Salzburg

As of current status, this limit also applies to Red Bull Salzburg Champions League matches and Rapid and WAC Europa League matches. Visiting fans cannot participate in international matches until further notice.

All qualifying matches this season of the European Cup passed without a spectator due to the coronavirus pandemic.
