A 26-year-old boy was bitten by a poisonous snake, a western diamondback rattlesnake, in the basement of his parents’ home in the Urfahr-Umgebung district on Tuesday night. After first aid from the ER doctor, he was admitted to the Sisters of Mercy of Ordensklinikum Linz.

The man possessed two specimens of these highly poisonous reptiles. His father apparently knew nothing about the dangerous domestic animals that the son did not report to district administration or keep an appropriate species, police said. On Tuesday around 8.45pm, the 26-year-old likely tampered with the plastic container in which the snakes were kept. One of them bit his left hand.
