The head of the FPÖ, Hofer, has stated that another blockade would be prepared as of October 23. These rumors have now been rejected by the Ministry of Health.

On Wednesday, the Health Ministry rejected the claim of FPÖ head Norbert Hofer that a second blockade would be prepared starting on October 23 and thus before All Saints weekend. There was no question about this, according to a spokeswoman at the request of the ministry’s APA.

Ministry: Rumors were deliberately spread

According to the ministry, the rumors are spread deliberately. A second lockdown is only expected if the healthcare system is about to collapse, and that’s out of the question. First of all, it is currently about specific measures (such as the early curfew in the restaurant sector) where the crown traffic light shows the need. With the most recent amendment to the Covid law, countries would have had the opportunity to do so.

Anschober excludes a second lock

The Minister of Health, Rudolf Anschober (Greens), personally also excludes the blockade, in the current “Falter”. “No. There won’t be,” he said there.

Hofer had previously stated in a broadcast that “knowledgeable circles around cabinets” would name October 23 as the date for a second shutdown.
