In Gänserndorf district, a 25-year-old man was investigated for allegedly sexually assaulting girls and women. The police are looking for more victims.
A series of sexual assaults in Lower Austria since mid-September could have been cleared up by the police. The events terrified the citizens: a stranger had sexually harassed and coerced several girls and young women. According to the police, she is said to have “massively touched the women in their intimate areas and also tried to drag them to remote places.”
All the victims were able to defend themselves loudly and violently, so the attacker released them and fled. Some of the victims suffered bruises and abrasions in the incidents. In the investigation of the Lower Austrian State Criminal Police Office, sex crimes investigation area, a 25-year-old young man from the Gänserndorf district was identified as a suspect and arrested on September 24, 2020 in cooperation with the working group to combat street crimes of the Lower Austrian State Criminal Police Office in the district of Gänserndorf.
When questioned at the Gänserndorf police station, he confessed to the allegations. He was admitted to Korneuburg Prison by order of the Korneuburg Public Ministry. The police assume that there are more victims and that is why they published a photo of the accused. On September 13, 2020, around 6:40 pm, the suspect allegedly attacked a 15-year-old girl from the Gänserndorf district near the Gänserndorf train station from behind and tried to drag her into a parking lot.
On September 15, 2020, around 9 pm, the defendant is said to have grabbed a 38-year-old woman from the Gänserndorf district near the Gänserndorf train station and touched her genital area.
On September 21, 2020, around 7:55 pm, he is said to have grabbed a 22-year-old girl from the Gänserndorf district near the Gänserndorf train station and touched her genital area.
On September 22, 2020, between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., he is said to have grabbed a 20-year-old from the Gänserndorf district in the area of a dog run in Gänserndorf from behind on the chest and hips.
On September 22, 2020, around 7:30 a.m., he is said to have grabbed a 16-year-old girl from the Gänserndorf district also in the Gänserndorf dog zone area from behind and touched her genital area.
On September 22, 2020, at around 8:15 a.m., he is said to have grabbed a 16-year-old girl from the Gänserndorf district in the local Leopoldsdorf area from behind and touched her genital area.
