Innsbruck – The state of Tyrol is relaunching the so-called “Bildungskarenz plus” due to the Corona crisis. The aim is to motivate companies to focus on further training of employees to avoid reduced working hours or layoffs. For the measure, which will last until June 30, 2.9 million euros will be made available, declared this Tuesday the Councilor for Labor Status Beate Palfrader (ÖVP).
“Already during the economic crisis of 2008, the Tyrolean ‘Bildungskarenz plus’ was an extremely successful model in the fight against unemployment,” Palfrader said of the measures taken by the black-green state government. The educational measure can last a maximum of twelve months and must start before June 30.

Logical response to virus-induced crisis
AMS Tirol welcomed the reintroduction of the “Tiroler Bildungskarenz plus”, as this special allowance allows workers to be retained in the company during economically difficult times and, at the same time, to be better qualified. “Resolving periods of underemployment in the company with more training is definitely advisable in terms of labor market policy and, like short-time work, it helps to cushion the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic on the labor market,” emphasized Alfred Lercher, designated regional director of the Tyrol Public Employment Service.
AK Tyrolean President Erwin Zanger is also satisfied. “The qualification of the employees increases, a great advantage also for the company. In this way, important impulses of the educational policy and the labor market can be established at the same time,” said Zangerl. The special “Tyrolean license plus” program is therefore the logical answer to the current virus-related crisis.
“This financial support to Tyrolean companies, especially in the area of employee development, is very well received by the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce,” emphasized Manfred Pletzer, vice president of the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce. What is particularly attractive is that not only the staff costs are borne by the labor market service over time, but also half of the course costs are financed by the State of Tyrol. (TT.com)
