Ahead of the playoff second leg against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Wednesday in Wals-Siezenheim (9 pm on LIVE ticker and on DAZN), Red Bull Salzburg have a match in the Champions League group stage.
The 2: 1 in Israel has increased the chances of the “bulls” to participate in the second class queen en suite, attractive opponents are almost guaranteed. As in the previous year, when Salzburg was in the CL group stage for the first time, thanks to a fixed place over the national Bundesliga, the cream of the cream awaits coach Jesse Marsch’s team in Thursday’s draw (17: 00 hours) in Nyon. Pot two is almost as good as FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Manchester City and United clubs, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund. Even the fourth well offers attractive opportunities with Borussia Mönchengladbach and former Salzburg coach Marco Rose and former “policemen” Stefan Lainer, Valentino Lazaro and Hannes Wolf or Olympique de Marseille.
If it turns out to be unfavorable, a less attractive group with Zenit St. Petersburg (Pot 1), Shakhtar Donezk (Pot 2) and Stade Rennes (Pot 4) would also be possible.
