In some parts of Austria it was poured into buckets on Monday.
Austria will start the week under the influence of low pressure, the low center will even be almost exactly above us on Monday. Cloudy and occasionally wet weather is often expected. It rains most often in the eastern half, but also in congested areas along the northern side of the Alps. Even individual rain cells from thunderstorms are possible, most likely along the eastern border, according to ZAMG on Sunday.
The snow line on Mondays is usually between 1,200 and 2,000 meters. It is rarely loosened, short solar windows maybe out in the Wild West. The wind blows from changing directions, mostly from weak to moderate. The daily maximum temperatures reach eight to 16 degrees.

Vienna: In the morning it still rains a lot, in the morning the rain subsides temporarily. However, it remains mostly cloudy and unstable, the rains can come from the south again and again. The wind initially blows from weak to moderate, mainly from the southeast, at night it turns to the west and refreshes significantly. Early temps around 8, daily highs just above 14 degrees.
Lower Austria: At first, heavy rains are expected from the south. Until mid-morning the precipitation usually diminishes in intensity, but remains quite humid during the day, with additional humidity from the south, dense clouds and a few showers. In the Far East, individual storm cells could even form. the wind changes from east to west until dusk and refreshes notably in sections. Early temperatures 6-10 degrees, daily highs 9-16 degrees.
Burgenland: After some heavy rains overnight, there are some breaks during the day, but hardly any noticeable landslides. They can pass through more rain clouds and sometimes even shower cells with thunder. The wind often blows only weak to moderate, initially mainly from north to east, turning west at night. Early temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees, maximum values just above 12 to 16 degrees.
Upperösterreich: On Monday there are thick clouds with rain (snow line 1200 to 1400 m, rising slightly during the day). The dry sections are already building up in the morning, a little more rain is planned at Innviertel and the Salzkammergut. There are only a few sunny spots in the afternoon. The wind blows weak to moderate from the west. Early values: 2 to 7 degrees, maximum temperatures: 7 to 12 degrees.
Steiermark: On Monday, the influence of low pressure often means cloudy, cool and humid weather. After the rain breaks in the morning, the rain trend increases again in the second half of the day. The clouds are barely loosening. The snowfall limit is between 1200 m in the west of the Northern Alps and between 1600 and 1900 m in the other mountainous regions. With a moderately refreshing northeast wind, it doesn’t get higher than 7 to 14 degrees.
Carinthia: The weather forecast for Monday is unstable and fresh. When it’s mostly cloudy, it rains again and again east of Villach. There are longer pauses in precipitation in Upper Carinthia. Here too it lights up from time to time. The snow line is about 1700 m. Temperatures do not exceed 8 to 12 degrees.
Salzburg: Monday starts again from the beginning with thick clouds and rain (snow line in the morning from 1000 to 1300 m, in Pongau sometimes a little deeper). Little by little, the focus of precipitation is shifting north, from midday it could be dry more often in the Lungau. Individual loosening is possible here in the afternoon when the northwest wind is picking up. Otherwise it will remain cloudy with decreasing rain. Early values: 2 to 7 degrees, maximum temperatures: 6 to 10 degrees.
Tirol: Influence of low pressure. With thick clouds it rains again and again. In the lowlands the rain is sometimes heavy and here it can snow up to around 1000 m, especially in the morning. Otherwise the snow line is around 1400m, in East Tyrol a little higher. It rains less in the Arlberg and in the Inland Alpine Oberland, where dry periods predominate. Lower values: 1 to 6 degrees, high values: 5 to 11 degrees.
Vorarlberg: On Monday, especially in the mountainous region, thick clouds cover the sky and some raindrops fall from them. On the other hand, the day goes from Lake Constance to Walgau, cloudy with a bit of sun in between. Lower values: -1 to +4 degrees, high values: 8 to 13 degrees.
Outlook: this will be the weather in the coming days
Along the northern side of the Alps, extensive clouds move from the west to Upper Austria on Tuesday, the thickest rain clouds likely to be between Arlberg and Ausserfern. The snowfall line usually increases significantly, so the snow only falls during the day in the high mountains. Towards the east and south, on the other hand, it is more friendly and sometimes the sun even shines, the rain showers only form very sporadically. It gets a little warmer at twelve to 19 degrees.
Air pressure gradually increases in Austria, the weather calms down again on Wednesday. Especially at high altitudes, very soft air re-enters. Most of the country should be quite sunny and often just a little cloudy. The thickest clouds move over the north and east of the country, especially in the mountains, here it can rain more often. Maximum daily temperatures: 14 to 19 degrees.
On Thursday, the air pressure in Austria remains high, as is the temperature level in all shifts, but the country is increasingly affected by two zones of low pressure. Thursday is still fairly sunny in most of the country, cumulus clouds hardly disturbing the friendly character of the weather. In the afternoon, especially in the west, the clouds become thicker and light rain falls. During the day it is again quite mild with maximum values between 15 and 21 degrees.
In the eastern parts of the country Friday starts with some sunshine, in the west, however, thick clouds are already covering the sky again and it is raining a bit. The rain spreads across the country during the day, in the south it can temporarily rain harder again. In the afternoon it reaches 14 to 19 degrees, with the help of a hair dryer in the west even slightly over 20 degrees.
