A2, A3, A22 and A23 – Monday morning was a horror for drivers on these highways. Accidents and poor visibility caused chaos in traffic jams.
If you wanted to go to Vienna or the federal capital on Monday morning, you needed very good nerves. Sometimes it was no longer possible to walk on the highways of the federal capital. It came to chaotic scenes: in the rain and poor visibility on the Danube bank highway, for example, motorists reported long lines of sheet metal and blocked lanes, but completely ignored the emergency lane. Details in the overview >>
From Graz in the direction of Vienna there were two congestion points on the highway A2 south. Vehicles stopped for four kilometers at the Guntramsdorf junction, nine kilometers of slow traffic were reported due to congestion on the border between Vienna and Lower Austria. The traffic jam on the A2 had a direct impact on the south-east A3 motorway: three kilometers of traffic jam at the Guntramsdorf junction from Eisenstadt to Vienna!
Accident and double traffic jam
Traffic also stopped on the Danube bank highway A22, here after an accident on a wet road. There were sheet metal snakes between Korneuburg Ost and the border between Vienna and Lower Austria. The first lane and the shoulder of the Danube Bank Highway were closed after the accident, but many drivers ignored the rescue lane.
Double traffic also on the south-eastern ring road of Vienna. Asfinag reports five kilometers of traffic jams, on the one hand at the Prater junction from Inzersdorf towards Kagran and in the opposite direction at Handelskai. The reason is traffic congestion in both directions.
