The Chamber of Labor developed an initiative that consists of creating 45,000 jobs. Now it is up to the government to implement them, AK President Anderl said.
With its “Chance 45” initiative, the Chamber of Labor wants to create 45,000 jobs for people who are going through a particularly difficult time on the job market. With a job guarantee, the consolidation of unemployment, for example among the older unemployed, should be prevented, AK President Renate Anderl said in a broadcast Sunday. The government should adopt the model and implement it.
Five unemployed due to a vacancy
“We may not let these people sit on the waiting bench in the service of the labor market for years. They are entitled to perspective and opportunity. Therefore, every effort should be made to get help,” he said Anderl. At the same time, public services such as local transportation or care work could be expanded. Affected people, municipalities and the public sector would benefit from this.
The ratio between vacancies and unemployed is currently 1 to 5, that is, for each vacancy there are five unemployed. Also, the longer they are unemployed, the lower their chances of going back to work. After just ten months, only 35 percent of companies are still responding to requests. Therefore, special offers are needed to get those affected back to work.
