Sturm Graz could dream of the season’s first “three” for a long time, before Hartberg drew with a penalty in extra time.
Third league game with coach Christian Ilzer, third draw. Sturm had to be content with a 1-1 draw at Hartberg. Bitter from Graz’s point of view: Until the 94th minute they were ahead thanks to a goal from Ivan Ljubic (31).
But in the end, Sandro Ingolitsch made a serious mistake. He pulled Rajko Rep to the ground in the penalty area. Penalty! Dario Tadic stood his ground and scored to make it 1: 1.
Sturm had previously forgotten to make sure the situation was clear. Also because the referee Manuel Schüttengruber did not give a correct blow by Bekim Balaj due to a possible offside position (67th). In the fourth minute, a header from Niklas Geyrhofer landed on the crossbar.
Sturm finished the game with only ten men – Ingolitsch flew with yellow and red (93rd).
After the final whistle, Ilzer was upset by Teffer’s “steal” to make it 2-0. “A clear blow, the linesman must see that in a standard.” Overall, Hartberg’s former coach said “the whistle was very mean.”
But self-criticism was also essential. “In the final stages we have to take ourselves by the nose because we don’t play better against opportunities.”
In the table, Hartberg is now in 10th place with two points. Sturm has one more point and is eighth. In a week, the “Blackies” will have to deal with Altach at home. Hartberg has to go to favorite Salzburg.
