The Tampa Bay Lightning are close to their second Stanley Cup win in the NHL. The 2004 champion won Game 4 of the final series against the Dallas Stars 5-4 after overtime at Edmonton and leads 3-1. It takes four wins, so Tampa has three match points.

Kevin Shattenkirk shot the Lightning in the 67th minute of the game for a valuable best-of-seven series win. In finals, the team has had to go to extra time seven times in their club’s history, with six wins.

“There are all the emotions you can imagine,” said match winner Shattenkirk, who scored the most. Game 5 takes place Sunday night, and Tampa can make it all clear at Rogers Place.

“It was an important moment, an important goal. I am looking forward to tomorrow,” Shattenkirk said. The stats speak for Tampa: Since the introduction of the best-of-seven format in 1939, all 27 teams that went 3-1 in Game 4 of the Final have won the championship.
