After several months of the pandemic, many people know: working on your own four walls has its pitfalls, especially when it comes to switching videos with colleagues. Sometimes the children happily burst into the conference, sometimes the microphone remains on while the meeting is used for other activities. In Argentina, however, a politician left the camera on at a particularly intimate moment, sparking outrage.
Juan Emilio Ameri MEP was seen kissing a woman’s breasts during a video session of parliament. He was then barred from other meetings on Thursday for at least five days. In his apology, Ameri said he didn’t know he was online.
The session had been canceled by the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, because of the incident. During the video change in the crown crisis, scenes could already be seen on the big screen in which MPs fell asleep or protected themselves from the eyes of their colleagues, Massa said. But the current incident has “really gone beyond the limits of this House.”
Ameri’s excuse: his wife’s breast implants
Ameri could be seen stroking and kissing the breast of a woman sitting next to her. One of the breasts was temporarily bare. The images quickly spread through online networks.
The 47-year-old MP from the northwestern province of Salta reacted contritely. He regretted the incident and was “very embarrassed,” he said. You thought there was one of the most common internet outages in your region. Ameri also reported that her partner had breast implants placed just ten days ago.
It should not stop with the five-day suspension of the parliamentarian. The House of Representatives wants to decide within this period what additional punishment will be imposed on him.
