Casinos Austria has registered 600 employees at AMS for resignation. However, according to “diepresse.com” in the group there is talk of a maximum number that will be “significantly lower”. It is not yet foreseeable how many employees a voluntary departure or part-time model can be arranged with, said a spokesman for the state gambling company.
The austerity program is not a surprise. The company’s own “ReFIT” savings package was approved in principle in July. At the time it was said that “1,200 jobs will be saved” out of the 1,700 full-time positions currently. A new salary scheme should cut personnel costs by a quarter.
Severe loss of revenue at Casinos Austria in the first half of 2020
Casinos Austria International (CAI), the foreign affiliate of Casinos Austria AG, had reported severe shortfalls in revenue for the first half of 2020 at the end of August. Gaming revenue (including secondary revenue) fell from € 87.3 million in the same period last year to € 52.8 million.
The company is currently in the public eye on a regular basis due to Ibiza’s commission of inquiry, among other things dealing with post-chats in the gaming group.
Casinos Austria: one third belongs to the state
Casinos Austria, based in Wien-Landstrasse, has twelve Austrian casinos in Baden, Bregenz, Graz, Innsbruck, Kitzbühel, Kleinwalsertal, Linz, Salzburg, Seefeld, Velden, Wien and Zell am See. More recently, before the corona pandemic, they reported an annual visitor number of around 2.3 million guests. Bettina Glatz-Kremsner is the CEO.
The Casinos Austria Group employs around 3,400 people in Germany and abroad, around 1,700 of them at Casinos Austria AG, that is, at the twelve casinos and at the Vienna headquarters. The Czech Sazka group is by far the largest shareholder, with 55.48 percent of the casinos. Austrian state holding company ÖBAG owns 33.24 percent.
