Innsbruck – “Instead of quickly closing down the Somali, Turkish, yoke and hipster clubs where infections occurred after midnight, hotels, restaurants and bars are now closed at 10 pm with every imaginable security measure, where everyone employees are screened weekly. That is simply unfair and undifferentiated. Nobody understands that anymore ”. These are the words of Karl Ischia. Published on Tuesday on the social media platform Facebook. Ischia remained the district president of the Chamber of Commerce of the state capital. Less than 24 hours later, Ischia stopped working. And not only that. Ischia also resigned from his chamber function as a member of the hotel industry committee and chaired the supervisory board of Innsbruck Marketing GmbH, i.e. city marketing, effective immediately. The Chamber has the right to publish for this function.
The post had sparked a storm of outrage overnight. SP city party leader Benjamin Plach described it as “racist and last-class”. “Racism is not a calling card for a federal state that relies so heavily on tourism,” said National Green Councilor Barbara Neßler. The Greens of Innsbruck, who at least provide the mayor, demanded the resignation of Ischia.
This was preceded by a mere excuse for sciatica yesterday morning. Via Facebook. It removed the post because “it was obviously misunderstood, misinterpreted and used.” Then there was a crisis summit in the chamber, with President Christoph Walser. The House then sent a notification of Sciatica’s resignation.
Although many would “be on edge” due to the crisis, such a statement should not be allowed, Walser saw Ischia’s resignation as “no alternative”: “We have to send a signal that this does not reflect the opinion of the Chamber of Commerce. “.
Ischia same as for him TT I couldn’t speak yesterday, he’s also a member of the Wirtschaftsbund. A “simple” one, as WB boss Franz Hörl points out. Ischias Sager was probably due to emotion and thoughtlessness. Hörl sees no need for action on the WB: “I don’t see any reason why Ischia should no longer be a member.”
