The former president of the FP, Heinz-Christian Strache, was satisfied yesterday that the Office of the Prosecutor for Business and Corruption (WKStA) has closed the investigation into the FP donations. He “always predicted this,” he said. FP club president Herbert Kickl also spoke of “political satisfaction.” It has been shown that there was no hidden cash flow for the FPÖ through the party-affiliated clubs.
The SPÖ and Neos do not see the work of the investigation committee at risk from the decision of the prosecution. SP club vice president Jörg Leichtfried spoke of the fact that criminal and political responsibility should not be confused.
Even after the investigation into FP donations has ended, numerous procedures related to the Ibiza video are underway. The people behind the video are still being determined, the decoy is still being searched for mugshot.
Investigations are also being carried out on positions in Casinos Austria, where the suspicion of buying the law is in the room. Against Strache, the issue of expenses remains determined: using false receipts, it is said that around 500,000 euros in private expenses from 2006 to May 2019 were passed on to the FPÖ.
