922 new infections in Germany
We come to Germany. The Robert Koch Institute reported a comparatively low number of new corona infections on Monday. Consequently, the health authorities had presented 922 cases within one day.
Experience shows that the number of reported cases is usually lower on Sundays and Mondays, also because not all health authorities report data to the RKI during the weekend.

Listeners are allowed at court hearings
Tighter measures to contain the corona virus will not have any new effect on judicial operations for the time being. Regardless of the restrictions imposed on events at present, court hearings will not only remain open to the media, but will also be accessible to interested audiences, the so-called misdemeanors. The Justice Ministry made this clear in the APA request.
“Restrictions on events are not transferable to judicial operations, because the principle of publicity of parties in negotiations can only be restricted for the reasons provided by law: the code of civil procedure or the code of criminal procedure,” he said the ministry. To protect against Covid-19, security measures in court buildings and negotiating rooms (wearing mouth and nose protection in the negotiation room, observing distance rules, observing hygiene regulations) have been around for a long time, it was emphasized.
“To that end, there are certainly numerical restrictions on the number of listeners in court, depending on the size of the respective courtroom,” the Justice Ministry said. However, these restrictions would be determined by the direction of the respective agency within the framework of the house rules or by the decision-making body, the respective judge, within the framework of the judicial police.

Argentina extends measures until mid-October
The exit restrictions imposed six months ago by the corona pandemic in Argentina have been extended. Now they are valid until October 11, according to a decree of the government of the South American country this Sunday. In the metropolitan area of the capital Buenos Aires and in other particularly affected areas, people can only leave their homes for certain purposes.
Argentina imposed strict exit restrictions on March 20, largely shutting down economic operations and closing borders. Initially, this made it possible to slow down the spread of the virus, much better than in neighboring Brazil, for example. Recently, however, the discipline of the population declined. There were also demonstrations against the anti-crown measures. Argentina is now the country with the 10th highest number of coronavirus cases worldwide, with more than 630,000 confirmed infections, according to statistics from Johns Hopkins University.

Prince Charles: climate crisis will overshadow pandemic
Prince Charles sees global warming as a far greater danger than the current corona pandemic. Although this is widely denied, the climate crisis has been aggravating “for too many years,” the British heir to the throne said Sunday in a message to be played at the inauguration of Climate Week in New York on Monday.
Currently, climate change “is rapidly turning into a major catastrophe that will overshadow the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic,” the 71-year-old added. “Without rapid and immediate trade at an unprecedented rate and scale, we will miss the window of opportunity to create a better future.”

Thousands in demonstration against Netanyahu since the new shutdown began
For the first time since the beginning of the second national shutdown in Israel, opponents of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have joined together to protest. Several thousand people took part in the rally in Jerusalem on Sunday night to demand Netanyahu’s resignation. The Prime Minister is criticized for accusations of corruption and his handling of the Corona crisis. The rally was approved despite the new crown restrictions. Roughly the same number of people participated as in the weeks before the blockade came into effect. The participants wore masks, but did not abide by the distance rules, as reported by a reporter from the AFP news agency.
Police complained that the protesters had removed the barricades that had been erected around the demonstration site for security reasons. A driver who tried to ram the police barricades with his car was arrested.

Italy faces a dramatic economic contraction
According to internal sources, the Italian government expects the economy to contract by nine percent this year due to the corona pandemic. For next year, they expect growth of more than five percent, two government officials in Rome told Reuters on Sunday. In April, the government had assumed less than eight percent for 2020 and an increase of 4.7 percent for 2021. The new forecasts will be presented next week. They form the framework for the 2021 budget, which is due to be presented to the EU Commission in mid-October. Italy will receive around 209 billion euros from the EU crown reconstruction fund, which has yet to be approved by the European Parliament and EU national parliaments. The country is one of the EU countries that has been particularly affected by the pandemic in Europe.
