At press time, Heinz-Christian Strache showed a lack of understanding of current Corona politics. The numbers are not worrisome.
The HC Strache team’s main candidate, Heinz-Christian Strache, was invited to the ORF press hour on Sunday morning. In the conversation there were questions about the issues that are currently shaping his life and career. Strache expressed and underlined his clear opinion and position on the expenses and the Ibiza issue and the accusations against him. He did not allow himself to be in debt and was an innocent citizen.
Corona-Pandemie
But Strache also takes a clear stance on the Corona crisis. Using the “known evidence-based figures,” he was unable to identify a pandemic. It is clear that the virus exists and is spreading, but that the current situation “is not at all worrisome.” There are PCR tests that are positive, but – according to experts, “who unfortunately do not have enough voice” – in 95% of cases there are no symptoms. “That means there is no impact, I mean, I’m not even sure if [die positiv Getesteten] they have an infection. ”Only 5 percent of people who tested positive are in the hospital for treatment, and only 10 percent of those in the hospital are intensive care patients, according to Strache.
Strache trusts “Covid idiots”
However, this is not the truth. According to information from all responsible bodies, the figures assumed by Strache are incorrect: a maximum of 65% of all the people examined showed no symptoms. The main candidate for the HC Strache Team relies on the statements of international experts that he knows are portrayed as “Covid idiots”, although they are recognized experts. When asked if he did not believe the figures for the city of Vienna, he replied that he did, but that the figures “were neither frightening nor worrisome.”
It is about “excessive fear and alarmism” as it was before the first confinement, the necessity of which, according to Strache, is also debatable. He wonders if the Swedish method would not have been an option without the lockdown (remember: eight times more Covid patients died in Sweden than in Austria).
Protect only risk groups
In Strache’s eyes, the virus is only dangerous for high-risk patients. This is where we need to start and do more to protect and make them safe. Nursing homes must be kept “crown free.” Home visits should be linked to more stringent requirements, such as disinfection before entering the home and wearing a mask.
He sees an interpretation of the measures as sensible only when it comes to protecting risk groups from infection. The measures at the national level that affect everyone are incomprehensible.
More expert education
The former FPÖ leader in Vienna demands that more experts in Austria have a say. According to him, the government is not talking about evidence-based data. “I am experiencing one message control press conference after another, where the government quartet presents itself as experts, but does not present an expert who uses evidence-based facts to educate the public.”
Strache also shot Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. She harshly criticizes her handling of the Corona crisis.
