Three via ferrata climbers found the man’s lifeless body in the early afternoon while descending about 200 meters below the summit and notified rescuers. Surveys showed that he is a 77-year-old man from the Graz area.
The man likely died of natural causes, police said. He was rescued by rescuers from the Mixnitz Mountain Rescue Service of the Hochsteiermark Alpine Police and by a police helicopter from the Graz flight operations center.
