The investigation into the accidental death of Adrian G. on Sunday night at the Linz Froschberg is still in full swing. The 20-year-old was hit by a car and died; the crashed vehicle and its driver have not yet been investigated.
Police and prosecutors pinned their hopes on a taxi driver who brought the young night owl home. “It is said that a relative put the drunk Adrian in the taxi on Bethlehemstrasse,” says Reinhard Steiner, spokesman for the Linz prosecutor. The mid-range car, light or white, is said to have brought the 20-year-old to Wallnerstrasse around 1 a.m.

“The neighbor testified that someone had rung her doorbell. One voice said, ‘I’ll take the child home,’ the other: ‘It’s me, Adrian,'” says Steiner. Then, those involved would have realized that they were standing in front of the wrong house. After that, however, you lose track of the taxi driver. Adrian G. was discovered dead by a 22-year-old in Hugo-Wolf-Strasse at 2 am, not even 100 meters from his home. At first it could not be ruled out that this young man who had found Adrian G. could also have run him over. However, a vehicle report exonerated the witness and no traces of an accident were found on his vehicle.
The autopsy showed that Adrian G. was already on the street when he was hit by the unknown car in the head area. He died of a traumatic brain injury.
Investigators have already searched the major taxi companies for the driver, but so far without success. It cannot be ruled out that the man of the southern type was illegally driving a taxi. His car was parked on September 13 on Bethlehemstrasse at the side entrance of the passage. Police are urgently looking for the man as a witness.
