Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) announced another coronavirus test street on Friday evening in ORF’s “Wien heute” interview.
This should be done at the Ernst Happel stage for people with minor symptoms. In addition, mobile teams must conduct gurgling tests in schools. The next step is to find a test format for kindergarten children as well, Ludwig said.
The second test track of the Viennese Crown will arrive in the next few days
The additional test path should be available “in the next few days”. “People with minor symptoms can show up there, come with their own car, and get tested after talking to the 1450,” explained Ludwig.
The mayor welcomed the fact that the 1:00 a.m. curfew will also apply to private events in public spaces starting Monday. The city has always pushed for illegal private clubs to be shut down, and that has already happened. The new handle now allows “an even better starting position to advance faster.”
Ludwig welcomes government action
The amendment to the Covid Relaxation Ordinance also aims to give countries the right to impose additional and stricter measures. That was also welcomed by Ludwig. In this way, Vienna could continue “its most marked line”. One requirement is that the name, address, and phone number must be left at the restaurants. The city has already done it “with great success at the Rathausplatz film festival.” The mayor was sure that “the Viennese population will accept it” if it is explained well.
Package of measures for the hotel and restaurant industry
Next week a package of measures of the order of 22 million euros for the hotel and restaurant sector will be decided by the Vienna City Council. This is “an important step”, but it is certainly not the last. Companies should also use fixed cost subsidy. There is currently a dispute over the extension and expansion of the fixed cost subsidy between the EU and the Ministry of Finance. Ludwig was optimistic that solutions are possible.
