“All Waltzes” are probably rarely heard this winter. At least not in the great Viennese ballrooms. On Thursday, the committee for the Vienna Nobel and Traditional Balls decided that ten balls, such as the TU Ball, the Doctors Ball or the Pharmacy Ball, will be canceled.
High case numbers
As long as the number of cases is so high and reliable, rapid and inexpensive tests or a vaccine are not available, the implementation of a ball is not responsible, it says in a broadcast. The announcement is not surprising: the hunter’s dance, the Teresianist picnic or the Concordia dance have already been canceled. Now the medics ball, the Altkalksburger ball, the officers ball, the drugstore ball, and the lawyers ball have been added to the canceled ball list. As for the opera dance, the decision is still pending.
It was agreed that a traditional Viennese dance with the conditions related to the crown would not be feasible in winter 20/21. It is unlikely that only people living in the same household can dance with each other, if dancing is allowed. It is also said that the minimum distance of one meter can hardly be maintained at a dance festival.
