Under the Corona traffic light, Rohrbach is “medium risk.” Why the district was changed to yellow cannot be officially explained either.
ROHRBACH DISTRICT. Yesterday the Crown Commission met in extraordinary session for several hours. It was decided to change almost all of Upper Austria (with the exception of the Innviertel districts of Braunau, Ried and Schärding) to yellow. This can already be seen on the Corona traffic light home page (see screenshot). Officially, this means that there is a “medium risk” of corona infection in the Rohrbach district communities.
Measure “incomprehensible”
“We were very surprised,” says District Chief Wilbirg Mitterlehner. Rohrbach has only three positively reported cases and therefore “very few in Upper Austria”. Why the district now switched to “yellow” anyway, “we can’t conclusively understand,” says Mitterlehner. However, there are assumptions: “Maybe it has to do with the fact that we have only a few residents, but a relatively large number of positive cases overall. However, so far we can map all the clusters.” According to the district chief, the ranking may also be related to the high number of travelers who travel to other districts for work and “import” the disease from there. However, this is not an official criteria for classifying a district. You don’t want to complain about the yellow switch in Vienna, “that doesn’t mean that,” says Mitterlehner. Valentin Pühringer, head of the district administration’s traffic and safety department, wants more clarity: “Every measure that you can understand and understand is easier to fulfill.”
Almost no impact
There are currently no major changes in the district due to the yellow switch, as the measures have already been tightened across Austria. “The yellow switch affects people who are not in school, such as school social workers. They now have to wear mouth and nose protection at school at all times, even when talking to students,” explains Mitterlehner. Pühringer adds: “Anyway, caution and discipline are required everywhere right now.” In any case, the district has enough free hospital beds. Furthermore, according to the district chief, all borderline cases are tested: “In case of doubt, a test is always carried out.” Recently, the Red Cross has been carrying out officially ordered tests at the new driving test station directly at the Kokon rehabilitation center, opposite the Rohrbach-Berg Red Cross office.
