Vice Chancellor Kogler has spoken out in favor of a further increase in unemployment benefits in the crown crisis. He spoke of an increase of 150 euros per month.

Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) spoke on ORF radio for a further increase in unemployment benefits during the time of the crown crisis. As a possible amount, he named an increase of 150 euros per month, which should be a “follow-up” to the one-time payment of 450 euros made in September.

The vice chancellor wants “follow-up regulation”

“We want regulation to continue. A single payment was made, but let’s remember: The calculation method was as follows: 150 euros per month and that was valid for three months – and we thought or negotiated a follow-up regulation. In principle it is about increasing unemployment benefits by 150 euros ”, said the vice-rector.

In September, the one-off payment of 450 euros decided in July by the government groups ÖVP and Greens and SPÖ will be paid. Those who have received unemployment benefit or emergency assistance for at least 60 days between May and August benefit from the distribution. The idea of continuing this increase, now spelled out on ORF radio, was first mentioned by Kogler as a possibility in July.
