It’s a case that caused a sensation beyond the borders of Denmark: 30-year-old journalist Kim Wall was murdered in 2017. Now her killer has confessed to the crime for the first time.
Danish submarine builder Peter Madsen, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, has admitted his guilt for the first time. In a documentary broadcast on Wednesday, the 49-year-old answered “yes” by phone when asked if he had killed the young woman in August 2017. “There is only one culprit and that is me,” he added after denying the fact during the whole process.
Journalist missing after appointment with Madsen
Kim Wall, 30, was reported missing on August 11, 2017 after meeting Madsen on his self-built submarine “Nautilus.” Madsen initially claimed that he had brought her safely ashore after an accident.
When parts of his body were found in the Baltic Sea, he said that Wall died in an accident on board and that he had dumped his body into the sea. He later changed his version again, saying that Wall died after a sudden drop in pressure on board.
However, the Copenhagen court found the Swedish inventor guilty of sexually abusing, murdering and dismembering Wall and sentenced him to life in prison in April 2018.
