Towards the end of the survey, Jan Krainer (SPÖ) gets a hit. Sobotka pretends to ignore the exact location of the office of the mock institute he founded. “Right next to the ÖVP Lower Austria party headquarters,” Krainer helps him. He didn’t care about these things, Sobotka replied, nor did he know any previous high school addresses because they never met there. “After we didn’t have a lot of money, we initially had a small office,” says Sobotka. Krainer: “Until recently, there was an extension of the phone number for ÖVP Lower Austria.”
Then Krainer Sobotka has a marketing page in the Lower Austrian Workers Association (NÖ-AAB) newspaper, where Sobotka was the regional president. In this personal announcement, which lists the benefits for new ÖAAB members, there is a reference to a Mock Institute event. No more.
Sobotka admitted that the Mock Institute had advertised in the Lower Austrian AAB party newspaper. However, none of this is illegal. However, Krainer believes he has found the smoking gun; after all, Sobotka says the Alois Mock Institute is not part of it.
“Mr. Krainer, even if you have a good command of theatricality: there is not a direct flow of money, but a service in the form of advertising,” Sobotka replied. They were always modest sums.
