BB spokesperson Seif said in a statement that in Hollabrunn’s traffic management in the Eastern Regional Directorate “the shift list had been optimized in coordination with the works councils.” On average, there are only three out of ten duty stations once every two weeks, twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. The drivers would have “volunteered” for this. These are services of four to five hours, followed by a “rest period of more than nine hours”, followed by another service. These are mostly four day weeks.
Wurm, in turn, sent a letter from the Postbus board addressed to him on Wednesday of the previous day, in which he faced possible claims for damages. According to the letter, it must be “notorious” for “the great damage” that a company meeting at 4:00 am would cause in rural areas. That was “unworthy of a BB,” Wurm admitted angrily. In this context, he also pointed out that colleagues had been given notice of termination or disciplinary sanctions in case of participation in the meeting. Employee representatives will discuss how to proceed next week.
The Postbus AG drives everywhere “where there is no other public connection,” the BB spokesperson said in the statement. He is reluctant for the central works council to “resolve the dispute at the expense of the passengers.”
