The Ibiza investigation commission kicks off in the autumn with its most important evidence: the day before, the Vienna Prosecutor’s Office sent the Ibiza video. On Wednesday, however, full attention should be paid to the first person to provide information when the committee chairman herself, National Council Chairman Wolfgang Sobotka, is asked about possible contacts with Novomatic.
If the opposition has its way, Sobotka could be part of a shady network around corruption and law enforcement. Therefore, he temporarily resigns his presidency on the first day of the autumn meeting and is represented by the second president of the National Council, Doris Bures (SPÖ). In addition, former Novomatic head of corporate communications Bernhard Krumpel, as well as Markus Braun, a member of the Sigma Investment AG board and a liberal ORF board of directors, will be questioned on Wednesday.
