The car thieves sparked a major manhunt in the Freistadt district on Saturday night after stealing three cars from a dealership. The showroom was completely devastated, the alarm system destroyed and a car badly damaged. Several patrol cars, a squad of service dogs and a police helicopter were searching for the fugitive perpetrators, Upper Austrian police reported.

The Czech police were also informed. A police patrol at the Weigetschlag border crossing discovered the theft after a car that had no license plate on the front sped off at 4:45 p.m. Police made a license plate check, which revealed it was a car from a dealer.

A police patrol went to the car dealership and was able to find clear signs of a theft. Together with the owner of the business, the showroom was searched and the theft was discovered. The amount of damage is unknown. At around 11pm, the search was finally abandoned to no avail.
