On Thursday night, a hooded man attacked a gas station in the city of Salzburg. A major manhunt is taking place against the perpetrator.
In an attack on a gas station on Vogelweiderstraße near the Salzburg Nord motorway junction, a small amount of four-digit money was stolen by an unknown person on Thursday night. The perpetrator was extremely polite: He waited behind other customers until it was his turn and then apologized to the cashier, said the head of the city’s crime department, Andreas Huber.
“I’m sorry I really need the money now.”
The robbery took place around 8:15 p.m., a police spokeswoman told the APA. The stranger entered the gas station store wearing a helmet and lined up behind two other customers waiting in front of him, Huber said. When it was his turn, he gestured with an unknown item in his pants pocket to the salesman, who thought it was a weapon. “Then she said, ‘I’m sorry I really need the money now,'” Huber said. She then gave the perpetrator the solution, which she kept in a cloth bag.
The man left the gas station and probably fled on foot. Police launched an alarm search, which was unsuccessful until Friday morning.
